Saturday, What a day...

Hangin' out with my Kansas City friends

Nicholas wants SOOOO badly to be outside. No, No. Dr's orders. With the off and on rain today the air is thick with pollution :(.

Reading with Daddy

It is so difficult to capture the beauty of this city, Bogota. This particular AM (Friday) was clear and sunny, but not for long...

Street Sweepers --literally.

Nicholas and Mommy's favorite fruit --Granadilla. Otherwise known of by us as "spiderballs".

Colombian scafolding. Yup, that's floor #6!!!!! Competition for Dean and Doug?????
Nothing new to report here. We've had a quiet day today. Tomorrow Chris and I plan to tour the Salt Cathedral. Nicholas will stay here with Rosita. All of the maids here love him --especially Rosita, so she is especially excited. She has been instrumental in helping him learn to walk. We are fairly certain he will leave El Refugio close to walking if not walking.
Thanks everyone for your notes of humor and encouragement. We enjoy reading them both here on the blog and Nikkie's email.
Have a great night!

Sorry I haven't been around to blog stalk lately. I have really missed it. I have been running and running and I am exhausted. I took time to sleep and I feel much better. We had kind of a strange answer to pray today. I love to camp but Mark hates it because of the hard ground and we were wanting to take Mykal out to South Dakota this summer to see the sights so I had been praying that God would provide an inexpensive way for us to do this. I finally figured out that if we did not have to stay in a motel that it would save a ton of money but Mark was dreading the other option, tent camping. So we decided that if we could find an inexpensive popup camper that the problem would be solved so we decided that we could buy one if it ws less that $1,000. Well we have been looking for months and praying that God would tell us if this was a good use of his money. It was kind of a selfish thing but we really felt we should spend time with Mykal away from the TV. We'll yesterday I thought our prayers had been answered and we found a decent one for $600 but I just had the feeling that the timing just wasn't right so I said we would come look at it again later. Well, on the way to look at it again with Mark(this time) we notice one for sale in someone's yard and stopped to talk to them. This camper was in better condition and had been owned by the same family for 12 years. $300 later the deal was done. It is amazing how God works even in these small selfish things. It's Luke 11:9 in action.

I am so happy for you guys. It is so amazing what the Lord is doing in your lives and in Nicholas'. Your boys(at home) are so excited. I spent a few hours with them today because they came with Ricky and Abby to my aunt's b-day party. They were so good and they so desperately wanted to soak Rick with either the hose or the water balloons. You should know by now that water balloons are a requirement at all Barnes family functions(except the christmas party, of course). It is a guarantee that at least half of all attendees will get soaked or be covered in watermealon seeds or have bruises where the carrots hit them. This time I think there were bruises but no carrots. The water ballons were kind of hard and you had to really hit the person hard for the balloon to break. Rick did get a little wet and your boys were soaking wet and they loved it. They were so well behaved. Everyone loved them. There were lots of kids even though only 30 people were there(about 1/10th of the Barnes clan). Anyway I do not want to take up all the blog space you have so I will end this comment. I was just making up for lost time.

I was also wondering if you find it weird down there that the sun gets up at 6 am and sets at 6 pm every day of the year. It was difficult for me to imagine.

Love you guys and remember we are praying for you. I was reading today the entire chapter of Romans 8 and it was amazing the references to adoptions. If you haven't already read it then do because it is great.

The boys are having a great time. Yesterday after church we went swimming with Jenne and Mykal and than had homemade pizza for supper (with Jenne and Mykal). We had alot of fun. Right now they are with Rick at my house and eating pancakes. I'm going to bring them to Melindas today or tomorrow so they can blog.
They miss you!
I hope and pray everything is going well for Nicholas.

Hey guys! Just checking in with you again. We love the pictures! Wondering how your sightseeing went. My sister is here with her kids from South Dakota, so we're keeping busy. Praying for Chris' safe return and that you and Nicolas will follow shortly. Take care!
